I feel like I was more articulate when I was like 13, and I think that’s partly due to learning how to say something without just flat out saying it. I remember the first time I really noticed lyrics - “Bullet With Butterfly Wings” by The Smashing Pumpkins. My friend Mike had the record on and I remember picturing the angry guy singing it as a rat with a human face stuck in a cage. From the moment I heard that song, I knew Billy Corgan was mad and felt trapped - any kid could figure that out on first listen. So, I discovered communication through music. And as I get older, I feel more and more inclined to say some things in a song rather than to someone’s face. One way isn’t necessarily easier than the other. They’re just different. All that to say, I’m really excited about the new General Ghost music that Kyle and I are making. I hope it makes you feel something when you hear it.
